We shot the film opening, I acted as David Stables and John Cotterill was cinematographer for most scenes, although I provided help on some shots for continuity purposes. We made use of close-ups, mid-shots and establishing shots. We also managed to get a prop blank-firing gun from the drama department for use in several scenes.

The film sequence we’re trying to create is for a spy film with aspects of mystery and action. The plot for the film is that a government agent is implanted in a school as a physics teacher due to suspicions that the school is involved in class-A drug trafficking across Europe. David Stables is his undercover name and in the opening scene we see him in the bathroom of the school washing his face, which leads to a flashback to when he was originally handed his mission briefing. The school bell rings and he snaps out of the flashback, he then leaves the bathroom and goes back to the classroom where he begins his first day undercover.

We utilized iMovie to edit our previous camerawork, as well as adding some new shots. We imported the footage with a firewire cable and edited it to make chronological sense.

In this screenshot you can see that the 180 degree rule is established.

In the next shot the 180 degree rule is maintained.

We learned how to set a camera and tripod and record a sequence-using match on match action. We also learned about the 180-degree rule and how not to break it, why it is used and important etc. We also learned what shot reverse shot is and how and why it is used. A storyboard was drawn and used to its full potential. We included dialogue. Next we are going to practice continuity editing.
